BRUSHSTROKES THROUGH KEYSTROKES

The interesting contrast in Andrew's work lies in the fact that he renders natural subjects – landscapes, animals – using a highly technological method that still remains true to a painterly style. Combining his traditional art backround with his twenty years using digital tools as a graphic designer, he can retain the gestural and handmade nature he desires. For me, these technologies actually help remove the barriers to making art; I don't have to wait for perfect weather, or painstakingly mix paint by hand. "For me, these technologies actually help remove the barriers to making art; I don't have to wait for perfect weather, or painstakingly mix paint by hand. Since my career has focused on graphic design, painting in this way is the natural evolution of what I was doing, and I hope people will appreciate the craft involved as much as they would in a traditional work."

Being involved with Studio E Partners is a natural evolution for Andrew as well. In addition to affording him the opportunity to be associated with a highly diverse and talented group of artists, Andrew says that, "the Studio E mission to bring artists and collectors together in a personal way is a lot like the way I grew up…in a house filled with art created by family friends."
